The Washington Bach Consort presents three concerts of smaller-scale works in an intimate and welcoming modern space perfectly matched to the repertoire. Conveniently located in downtown DC and taking place on Friday evenings, the concerts are a welcome blend of inspiration and relaxation to end the work week. New this season, enjoy a drink or two before the performance at the Bach Bar, located in the lobby. Ample parking is available at the venue, which is located blocks away from the Gallery Place Metro.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had a lively interest in J.S. Bach’s compositions, and arranged for his father to send him copies of Bach’s collection of keyboard pieces, The Well-Tempered Clavier. Mozart then transcribed some of the fugues from that iconic keyboard work for string trios and quartets, some with newly composed adagios preceding them. Special guest artists The Franklin Quartet will perform these rarely heard Mozartian transcriptions in a concert that also includes selections from The Well-Tempered Clavier performed on fortepiano.
