We are gathered here today to invite you to a SPECIAL QREW event: #RESIST.
Living in DC inevitably involves being surrounded by politics, advocacy, and perhaps half-drunk arguments with strangers about a particular policy issue. But this year – as we all know – is different. Some of us who previously steered clear of political issues at all costs are now at the center of advocacy initiatives. Not only is politics relatively unavoidable in this city, it’s now pretty much common place no matter where you are. For us, we welcome it!
#RESIST is an opportunity to celebrate the positive side of resistance. This event is not bound by any policy issue or party affiliation. We want ALL people to join in our fight to protect our RIGHT TO #RESIST.
Come #organize in the cafe side of Songbyrd from 9 – 11 with fellow feminists, humanists, and activists to talk all things #resist.
***PLUS*** there will be a SPECIAL SPOKEN WORD PERFORMANCE by the one and only Charity Joyce Blackwell!
***AND*** we are collaborating with The Outrage, a local, women-owned empowerment outfitter, merging fashion and activism for today’s feminists. A portion of the profit from each sale is donated to a women’s empowerment group, including organizations like ACLU, Planned Parenthood, HRC and She Should Run. We will have a big merch table on the cafe side from 9-11, so be sure to grab your #girlpower merch before it’s gone!
Then make your way downstairs to dance your feminist hearts out to the beats of DJ Tezrah!
Whether your #whyIresist is politically, personally, or in any other way motivated, we all #RESIST. Join us to raise your chosen platform, exchange ideas, and learn more about issues outside of those you know well.
