On The Great Heights Band:
Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, The Great Heights Band (TGHB) released their debut full length album entitled “Songs in Eastern Standard Timing” (SIEST) in October 2015 via CI Records after releasing an EP entitled “Weird Thoughts” independently in 2014.
The album received rave reviews such stating the record was a “annoyingly catchy… highly polished debut… (with) a solid ear for hooks” (Baltimore City Paper). Other reviewers said, “It’s hard to believe that the Baltimore natives have only been working together for a little over a year as The Great Heights Band truly lives up to its name on the band’s debut full length. Songs In Eastern Standard Timing is a soaring example of fun, funky, and vintage pop melodies, with clear indications that there is nowhere for this band to go but up.” (Absolutepunk.net)
Since the release of SIEST, the band has toured around the eastern half of the United States regularly and was awarded the Emerging Artist Award at the 2015 Milwaukee Summerfest (world’s largest music festival). TGHB has shared the stage with the likes of Andrew WK, Unwritten Law, New Politics, Never Shout Never, Punchline, Metro Station, Fenix TX, Hellogoodbye, Vacationer and many others.
The band has begun work on their forthcoming sophomore album due out later this year, recording and producing the album themselves at guitarist/vocalist Eric Taft’s studio Buzzlounge Recording in Beltsville, Maryland. TGHB is Neal Karkhanis (guitar/vocals), Eric Taft (guitar/vocals), Owen Brinser (bass) and Paul Martinez (drums).
