Sam Kogon at Black Cat (backstage)
with support from Wes Charlton
7:30pm
$10
Sam Kogon’s latest record (and Sam Evian produced) Psychic Tears, is a lavish, painstakingly detailed work of modern-retro guitar pop. Released not long after his skills were authenticated by several collaborations with The Beach Boys’ Al Jardine, Kogon’s pop-wunderkind 2015 debut Before You Knew Me attracted the attention of the Beyond Beyond Is Beyond label, leading to this short-order follow up and a big step up in production values.
“I’m sure you’ll notice Sam’s affinity for power pop and new wave rock along lines of Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, maybe even T. Rex”
– Alice Cooper
“A sublime patchwork of influence and endeavor, “Psychic Tears” is a dynamic and exquisitely-produced trip through Kogon’s soulful, endlessly inventive mind – and it might well provide one of 2016’s most bold and valiant excursions.” – GoldFlake Paint
