Jay Prince is a Hip Hop recording artist and music producer from East London. His style of music has been described as a chilled and mellow nostalgic vibe, with influences of 90’s US Hip Hop and todays Hip Hop, Jay brings a combination of complex poetic lyrics and flow to his music.
On Friday, June 2, east London’s Jay Prince released his Late Summers mixtape. Prince has already shared the lead track “When I Die” and follows that up today with “Mandem,” featuring the smooth R&B vocals of Shakka. The song is a custom-built summer roller, its laid-back vibe propping up a song focused on knowing who is on your side and keeping distance from those who aren’t.
Speaking to The FADER via email, Jay Prince said: “‘Mandem’ is about realizing how far I’ve come and grown as an artist being able to get to a place where you never thought you could reach. Shakka was the best fit for me as a feature on this song, firstly because I’m a big fan of his and secondly because he is someone who I respect and have built a relationship with naturally. It was dope being able to work with an artist who has a good ear musically and just gets how this shit goes.”
