GLENN UNDERGROUND:
Glenn Underground is the founding member of the Strictly Jaz Unit. He is by far the deepest most prolific House Music creators of any generation. Glenn was raised on Disco Classics Freeform Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Jazz Funk and Black soul music on Chicago’s South & West Sides (the place where House Music was born). Glenn’s inspiration derives from Chicago’s original pioneers Larry Heard, Ron Hardy, Lil’ Louis & the late Frankie Knuckles. Glenn Underground has produced music for some of the most respected Deep House Music labels of the past 27 plus years. His releases for Cajual, Prescription, Guidance, KENLOU Records, Vega Records, Shelter Records, Wave Records, Peacefrog and his SJU Muzic label have set the standard for sophisticated dance music. He is one of the few DJ’s who can walk the line between Deep Jazz House, Disco influenced House, and the kind of Classics featured at the legendary parties of late seventies Chicago.
Circa 1984, GU aka CVO started out as a Dj under the tutelage of his uncle David Collins in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. GU started collecting large amounts of vinyl in the mid 1980’s, from raw Disco to what is now called Rare Grooves & various styles of Chicago House Music alongside SJU MUZIC CO-CEO, best friend and close brother Boo Williams. Once Glenn & Boo came together, they set the SJU standard of House Music. An equally talented DJ, GU has played all over the world seeing many countries along his journey.
As a Dj, GU will not stop until he drops.
It’s All About HOUSE MUSIC.
BOO WILLIAMS:
Born in Chicago, Boo Williams has been a part of Chicago’s house music entourage since 1981. When he first stepped up to the turntables and started djing, he was influenced by his family who had a big impact on his music career today.
Growing up as a teenager listening to Blues, Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Disco and Jazz Funk, artists like: Roy Ayers, Gill Scott, Heron, Minnie Rippleton, Chaka Khan, Patrick Adams, Leroy Burgess, George Duke, Jeff Lobber, George Clinton, Donald Bird, Ronnie Laws, BB King, Glades Knight, and Etta James, this Inspired Boo in the early 80’s to become a Dj. Participating in events and going to parties listening to Lil Louis, Larry Heard, Robert Owens, Marshall Jefferson, Herb Kent, Ron Hardy, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Steve Silk Hurley, Steve Poindexter, WKKC, and many other great producers and artists from Chicago. This lead Boo to play at some of Chicago’s finest spots back then like; Mendel High School, Leo High School, The Power House, Medusa, The Humming Bird, Gentle Persuasion, AKA’s, Ascott Hotel, The Bismarck Hotel, and The Congress Hotel, just to name a few.
Later down the line, He’d get together his best friend and spiritual brother Glenn Underground. Who took him in with open arms and showed him how to make music. And they became, Strictly Jaz Unit. Creating their own style of music by making and releasing some of the best music in our scene today. They own their record label: Strictly Jaz Unit Muzic and Strictly Jaz Unit Extensions, and will continue to put out countless hits for our music industry. As of now, Boo is traveling all over the globe and still making music and giving great service to the masses. His goal is to keep the industry wondering what’s next to come. P.S House Music will never die!!
