Black Masala
Black Masala are sort of the Washington, DC counterpart to Slavic Soul Party. They play an intoxicatingly edgy blend of Romany, Indian, Afrobeat, circus rock and hard funk dancefloor grooves. Their brassy attack features lots of biting minor keys and slinky rhythms.
– NY Music Daily
Black Masala has released their second studio album, I Love You Madly and has plans to release remixes of that album later this year. I Love You Madly was well received and reached #2 on the CMJ World Chart and #4 on Canada’s national Earshot radio chart.
Rufus Roundtree and Da B’more Brass Factory
Formally trained musicians, Rufus Roundtree and Da B’More Brass Factory infuse the essence of the New Orleans brass band sound that defines the mardi gras experience with a hometown contemporary flare; recreating versions of R&B and hip-hop songs with funk, neo-soul and jazz elements… guaranteed to keep the crowd dancing. This is not the traditional band, this is truly an invigorating experience.
