It’s a night at the U Street Disco! As a pioneer of disco’s transition into dance music and a producer for Madonna, Jellybean Benitez has many years of experience and awards behind him. His modern sets are a heart-pounding blend of soulful house, afro-house, and classic songs from his early work that you don’t want to miss. Alongside him will be Sam “The Man” Burns, a DC staple of over 36 years, with an unending repertoire of local venue residencies and an impeccable taste for the right vinyl to spin.

Having held nightly parties at New York’s most prominent clubs (Studio 54 and Electric Circus) Benitez remains as one of the most influential DJs amongst the disco and post-disco scenes of the mid-70s and mid-80s. Showing versatility throughout the “death of disco”, Benitez went into full gear with production and remixing; reworking tracks for artists such as Afrika Bambaataa, Madonna (including the production of her first hit, “Holiday”), Whitney Houston, Debbie Gibson, Eurythmics and Sheena Easton. In 2005, Benitez was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame for his achievements as both a DJ and producer.
